Office Application Deadline: October 23, 2017

This deadline is required for the internal nomination process conducted by the Fellowships Office. DAAD does offer other scholarships that do not require this nomination process. Applications for those scholarships may be submitted directly to DAAD and have various due dates throughout the year. Please see the specific program’s site for more details. If you are interested in applying, please notify the University Fellowships Office by email (univfellowships@psu.edu) and follow the internal process outlined below. If you’d like to schedule a meeting to discuss your interest in applying please contact us.

Application Process: The university is allowed to nominate one priority applicant, so there is an internal nomination process. All applicants will still be sent forward to DAAD for consideration in the general applicant pool. Applications are submitted through DAAD's application portal. To be considered for nomination applicants must submit a copy of their completed application as generated in DAAD's application portal after submission directly to our office via email or hardcopy (univfellowships@psu.edu or 321 Boucke Bldg.) by the date above. A completed application includes the following materials:

  • Application form
  • Supplemental materials (for music, fine arts, dance only)
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Research/Study proposal
  • Official transcript(s)
  • DAAD language evaluation form
  • For PhD applicants, confirmation of ABD status
  • For research applicants, letter confirming supervision by an academic adviser in Germany
  • One reference form from a Penn State senior academic/professor in your field of study
    • The form is available on DAAD’s portal. It should be emailed or mailed directly to our office and a copy should be emailed to DAAD (gradscholar@daad.org)
